BADMINTON

Badminton is a racquet and shuttlecock sport played by hitting the shuttlecock across a net.
The game is mostly played in singles and doubles although it may be played with large teams.
The game was first played in the 19th century and has gained popularity over the years.
Its highest governing body is the Badminton World Federation, it is recognised by the International Olympic Committee.

Badminton is often played as a casual outdoor activity in a yard or a beach while formal games are played in a rectangular indoor court.

The players earn points which determine the winner of a tournament, points are earned by striking  the shuttlecock with a racquet and landing it within the opposing sides' half of the court.
Plays end once the shuttlecock has struck the floor or if a fault has been by an umpire ,service judge or in the absence of the opposing side.

Badminton has been a summer olympic sport with five events:

• men's singles 
• women's singles
• men's doubles
• women's doubles
• mixed doubles 

At professional level of play the games demands excellent fitness , the players require aerobic stamina, agility, strength , speed and precision.
It is also a technical sport which requires a good motor coordination and the development of sophisticated racquet movement.

The game is mostly popular in British India, Denmark, Asia and China.
The game has gained popularity over the years and has been adapted in many countries.
The most famous players in this game are; Tang Wee Kiong, Ajay Jayaram, Wang Xin, Mathias Boe, Lee Hyo-jung, Carsten Mogensen,Yu Yang, Chetan Anand, Zhao Yunlei, Susi Susanti and many others.

MAX GRADEL

Max Gradel is an Ivorian footballer who plays for Bournemouth and the Ivory coast national team..Max received his first call up to the Cote d'ivoire national team in November 2010.He made his debut for the national side on 5th june 2011,Gradel won both the fans player of the year and players.player of the year awards

The 29-year-old is yet to start a league game this season despite overcoming a hamstring problem,Gradel has made just 11 appearances for the cherries in all competition this season and wants to leave to secure more first team football..He joined Bournemouth from French side  st Etienne in August 2015 and signed a new four-year deal a year late..

It is understood Bournemouth want to keep Gradel but he is worried his lack of  opportunities will affect his international career

 He played in all three of  Ivory coast's games at the 2017 Africa cup of Nations in Gabon as the defending champions failed to get past the group stages..he has played in four African cup of Nations

FORMULA ONE 71 FIRST SEASON

FORMULA 1 RACES

Formula one automobile racing has its roots in the European Grand Prix (auto mobile racing that dates as far as 1894 in France but quickly evolved into simple road race from one town to the next) championships of the 1920s and 1930s. The foundation of Formula One began in 1946 with the Federation International de l'Automobile's (FIA's) standardization of rules. A World Championship of Drivers followed in 1950.

In addition to the world championship series, non-championship Formula One races were held for many years, the last held in 1983 due to the rising cost of competition. National championships existed in South Africa and the United Kingdom in the 1960s and 1970s.

This year’s formula one race season will be the 71st season of formula one motor racing, it will feature the 8th formula one world championship, a motor racing championship for formula one cars that’s recognized by FIA, as the highest class of competition for open-wheel racing cars. The race started in Australia on March 26th 2017 and will end in Abu Dhabi on 26th November 2017 for the World Drivers’ and world Constructors’ championship. So far the world drivers’ champion is Ferrari’s driver Sebastian Vettel.

The world drivers’ championship is awarded by FIA to the most successful Formula one racing car driver over a season. The title is determined by a points system based on the grand Prix results.

Formula one races comprises of many teams, this week we’ll take a look at Ferrari’s team and the formula one race calendar.

This year Kimi Raikkonen from Espoo Finland and Sebastian Vettel from Heppenheim Germany are Ferrari’s drivers for this year’s race.

Sebastian Vettel

Sebastian Vettel being quite an achieved formula one drive, “he is a four-time Formula One World Champion, having won the championship in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013 with Red Bull Racing.

 He is among the most successful F1 drivers of all time. He is one of only four drivers to have won four or more drivers' titles. He is contracted to remain as a Formula One driver with Scuderia Ferrari until at least the end of 2017.”

He is the current winner of the current drivers’ championship leader.

Kimi Raikkonen 

After nine seasons racing in Formula One, in which during his first Ferrari stint he was the 2007 World Champion, he competed in the World Rally Championship in 2010 and 2011. In 2012, he returned to Formula One, driving for Lotus and continued to drive for Lotus in 2013.

 “He entered Formula One as a regular driver for Sauber-Petronas in 2001. Having previously only raced in very junior open-wheel categories, he was given his Super License from the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) after a performance delivery promise by his team boss, Peter Sauber. He joined McLaren Mercedes in 2002, and became a title contender by finishing runner-up in the 2003 and 2005 championships to Michael Schumacher and Fernando Alonso, respectively. Raikkonen's 2002, 2004 and 2006 seasons were plagued by severe unreliability from his McLaren cars.

Raikkonen's move to Ferrari in 2007 saw him secure his first Formula One World Drivers' Championship, beating McLaren drivers Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso by one point, as well as becoming one of the very few drivers to win in their first season with Ferrari.

In 2008 he equaled the record for fastest laps in a season, for the second time. However, with Ferrari's desire to get Fernando Alonso into the team with his Santander sponsorship, Raikkonen left the sport and Scuderia Ferrari in 2009.”

On September 11th 2013, Ferrari announced their signing of Raikkonen on a two-year contract, beginning in the 2014 season. His current contract with the team has been extended since and expires at the end of 2017.

This is a professional association football of the Spanish football league system.

It is one of the most popular professional sports League in the world with an average attendance of 26,741 for league matches in the 2014-2015 season and live broadcast on major sports channels.

La Liga is contested by 20 teams and administered by the Liga de Fútbol Profesional (LFP).
Nine teams have been crowned champions in the La Liga in which 60 teams have competed since  its inception.

Real Madrid (32 titles) and Barcelona (24 titles) have dominated the championship from the 1950s through to 1980s.
In recent years Atlético Madrid, Valencia, Deportivo de La Coruña have taken the lead.

La Liga has been the top League in Europe over the past five years and produced the continents' top- rated clubs more times than any other Leagues.

Other teams in the La Liga are Sevilla, Villarreal, Real Sociedad, Eibar, Athletic Bilbao, Espanyol, Celta Vigo, Alavés, Valencia, Las Palmas, Malaga, Real Betis, Leganés, Sporting Gijón, Granada and Osasuna.
