The IIHF world championships for
the year 2017 are being held in Paris, France and Cologne, Germany for the 5th
to the 21st of May. The United States is in group A of the championships
other countries include Denmark, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Russia, Slovakia and
Sweden. All preliminary round games will take place at Laxness arena in Cologne
Germany. All semifinal, bronze medal and gold medal games will take place at
the main host location of Cologne, Germany.
Today we address USA vs. Italy,
the United Stated took their third win of the ice hockey world championship
with a 3 – 0 defeat of Italy yesterday. The star player was Brock Nelson from
the United states who scored twice against Italy. “He broke the deadlock with a
wrist shot to the top right corner early on, then scored another in the second
period minutes before Anders Lee completed the scoring on a power play”. Nelson
who’s a player for the New York islanders was named player of the game. Nelson
fired one off the right post and into the back of the net from the hash marks
to open the scoring 5:17 into the game after he picked off an errant clearing
pass. The U.S held Italy without a shot on goal for the first 15 plus minutes of
the contest and finished the first period with a 9-2 shot on goal advantage.

"The American Coach Jeff Blashill
stated that Italy was tough to play against but “our guys kept with it and made
enough plays to win the game and that’s the important thing”. Team USA has two
days off before putting its three-game winning streak on the line against Latvia
this Saturday May the 13th. Team USA out shot Italy 32-9 the U.S. was
1- for-2 on the power play while Italy finished 0-for-2, the U.S. have the day
off today before returning to practice tomorrow in preparation for the game
against Latvia at 12:15 p.m.
Dylan Larkin extended his point
streak to four games with his two assists yesterday, he’s the only U.S. player
to have at least one point in each of team USA’s first four games of the world
championship."
